Official publications

The Central Library holds reference copies of many important current and historical official publications, including Acts of Parliament and government papers.

Studying books

Nottingham Central Library holds a collection of government and parliamentary papers.

Highlights of the collection include:

  • Printed copies of Acts of Parliament from 1540
  • Printed copies of House of Commons Hansard (the official journal recording the proceedings of Parliament) to mid - 2010. After this date there is electronic access.
  • Printed copies of the London Gazette (held for 1 year) and access to the online archive
  • Copies of all House of Commons Parliamentary Papers and Command papers 1801-1944 (on microfiche).
  • Printed copies of the Air Force list (1952-date), Army List (1914 - 1918; 1952 - date), and Navy List (1850 - 1905; 1952 - date) (Please check the availability of volumes from the early years)
  • Printed copies of all Statutory Instruments from 1935
  • All major government reports both current and historical
  • Current editions of Halsbury's Laws of England and Halsbury's Statutes

Public Information Online - www.publicinformationonline.com - All parliamentary papers from the 2006/7 session onwards are now available on-line to library members; you can also set-up alerts so that you are notified when new types of parliamentary publications appear.

Official Documents is the official reference facility for Command and departmentally sponsored House of Commons Papers. From May 2005 onwards, all Command Papers and House of Commons Papers, as well as Key Departmental Papers, are available for free on the site in PDF format.

Links to the full text of all UK Parliament Public General Acts (from 1988 onwards) and all Local Acts (from 1991 onwards) as they were originally enacted.
