First on the Main stage was Nottingham-born singer-songwriter and producer Ronika, who wowed the crowd with her home grown talent and the first fists were seen to punch the air as the crowd start to rock.
After a great set, Ronika left the stage to make way for Leisure Society, the Ivor Novello award nominated band who hail from Burton on Trent. These indie giants entertained the crowd with their brand of indie pop whilst the crowd expanded and the fists multiplied in the air.
Los Angeles' OKGO took to the stage next with their brand of funky, dancy rock which showed a touch of melancholy.
Elsewhere at Splendour, 'I Only Date Models' and 'Long Dead Signal' entertained the crowds on the Small World Stage, whilst The Wax Dramatic and Fists rocked the Rightfield Stage. Down on the Courtyard Stage, Nina Smith took to the stage with her heartbreaking voice and smooth lyrics after Jay Thomas and Liam Bailey entertained a packed Courtyard. The crowds were still streaming in from the car park as Nina's voice rose above and filled the courtyard.
After taking time to enjoy the many food and drink facilities, including Homemade and the two beer tents which were doing a roaring trade in the heat, Athlete took to the Main Splendour Stage, entertaining the now heaving crowd with their individual brand of indie rock. Next up were the Noisettes who took to the stage to a great reception from the crowd.
Over on the Rightfield Stage, after 'Celine and Nite Wreckage' and 'Fyfe Dangerfield' had thrilled the largely rock crowd, Terrorvision stormed the stage to produce a fantastic set, with old favourites like 'Tequila' rousing the crowd to sing along. Front man, Tony Wright, energetically made use of the stage and speakers, reaching out to the crowd as only he can. The crowd responded to the enthusiasm of the whole band and a great rock and roll atmosphere made Terrorvision a huge success. Watch out for Terrorvision at the Sonisphere 2010 festival later this month. Next up and headling this stage were Shed Seven who rounded off the evening on this stage with a fantastic set where the crowds felt they had been truly rocked at Splendour.
Over on the main stage Calvin Harris was preparing the crowd for a real rave atmosphere, he took to the stage with a heaving crowd already in the party in mood. The king of electro pop certainly lived up to the hype as the crowd raved and punched the air as one. Calvin was a triumph and after his set the crowd were really pumped and waiting for more. After an interval the main stage headliners, The Pet Shop Boys, took to the stage and proved their class by delighting new and old fans alike, with familiar tunes resounding around Wollaton. They deservedly rounded off a brilliant day at Splendour, to make Nottingham once again the place for live music, a great day out and value for money.
