Nottingham Children's Festival 2010
This years Children's Festival took place from 31 July - 15 August 2010 at various locations around Nottingham. This year's festival offered children many fun packed activities many of which were FREE!
For children who love music, dance, art, theatre or creative play Nottingham Children's Festival was certainly a summer holiday treat. With such a varied and interesting programme there was something to keep keep them busy and occupied for many a happy hour on end.

Festival Highlights
31 July - Folk Legends and Fairy Tales, Nottingham Castle
Taking place in the grounds of the castle Fun at the Castle offered story telling, puppet shows, theatre and participatory games, activities on the theme of folk legends plus the first Nottingham Children's Festival Art Competition and Exhibition. Loads of entries were received and a good day was had by all.
6 - 8 August - Riverside Festival – Children's Festival Arts Zone Activities: Nottingham Riverside Festival's Art Zone delivered a packed programme of creative activities for the whole family. You could join in the hands-on fun workshops, dance, watch puppet shows, play large chimes, learn about our Britian's natural coastline, get involved in circus skills and much much more...
15 August - Children's Picnic, Wollaton Hall: The finale of the Festival was a wonderful "Picnic in the Park".
You could learn more about the world's endangered species through the day's fun-packed activities. Around the site you could find walk about Gorilla's, Yaks and Hippos. Many other activities could be enjoyed including story-telling, theatre, art and craft workshops, make and take fun. Many children and families brought along their Teddies, dressed for an outdoor adventure, so they could take part in the Best Dressed Teddy Competition.

Nottingham City Council's Galleries and Museums service offered a range of interesting and exciting Children's Festival activities including:
- Make and play parachutes at Green's Windmill
- Robin Hood Family Backpacking at Nottingham Castle
- "Give an Endangered Species a Helping Hand" sessions at Wollaton Hall
- Newstead Abbey's "Who is Ada Lovelace?" event
- Summer Schools at the Royal Centre and Lakeside Arts
- And much much more...
