At the Nottingham Register Office you can register a permanent legal record of every birth, marriage and death in the city; receive authorisation for civil and non-conformist marriages, get married or hold a Civil Partnership.

This is the official website for the City of Nottingham, where certificates cost no more than £7 each.

New - 3 July 2009

Due to building work at the City Hospital the Registration Service are unable to offer their on site registration service at the moment.  Appointments are still available at the Register Office or Queens Medical Centre.  They are working hard to find an alternative office at the city.

  • February 2009 - Birth Registration drop in service now available at Clifton Cornerstone. In partnership with SureStart, the City of Nottingham Registration Service are offering a drop in centre for birth registrations between 9.30 am and 11.30 am every Tuesday morning. No appointment is necessary and you will be given your baby's birth certificate while you wait

From 8 September 2008, you can register your baby's birth at Broxtowe and Aspley SureStart centres. Just come along to Broxtowe's Bump & baby session between 1.30 and 3.30 or Aspley's Tiny Tots between 10 and 12.00, no appointment is necessary.

New parents can register their baby's birth while still in hospital and bereaved relatives can register a death without having to travel to the city register office. Bookings can be made through the hospital bereavement centres or by calling the office on 0115 9475665.

The Registration Service in England and Wales started in July 1837 and is one of the oldest services administered by local authorities.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm
  • Wednesday from 10.00am - 4.30pm
  • Saturday - by prior appointment only
