Joint Information Management Group This group brings together information officers from the key agencies and is looking at how the major information systems (Education, Social Care, Children’s Health) can be developed in a synchronised way that will permit greater information exchange. Information Sharing e-learning presentation for practitioners
Link
Practitioners need to work together to give the most effective support to children and young people. In order to do this they must share information. Unfortunately, there are no hard and fast rules about when and what to share. There are principles and good practice, but there are no simple answers in all circumstances. It is all about judgement and balancing responsibilities.
This interactive PowerPoint package aims to refresh practitioners’ understanding of information sharing issues and help them make appropriate decisions on disclosures of personal information. It draws its content from a number of sources including the DCSF's 'Information Sharing: Practitioners’ Guidance (2006)' and covers topics including the legal background to information sharing, the key principles and the main issues involved.
Whilst it is primarily aimed at practitioners working directly with children, young people or families, other workers will find elements of the presentation useful in clarifying the issues around information sharing.
