Greener HousiNG is a home energy efficiency scheme which enables homes to reduce their energy bills by up to £400 annually through subsidised energy saving measures including external solid wall insulation.
To date over 6,000 properties have benefited from this investment to improve the quality of Nottingham housing.
Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes jointly deliver this scheme, by securing a variety of funding streams we can enable energy efficiency projects for Nottingham's social and private homes at reduced rates. Funding from Green Deal Communities, Community Energy Saving Programme, Energy Company Obligation and The European Commission have been used to help pay for the works reducing the cost of the works to the both The Council and the private home owner.

Energy Company Obligation Phase 2 – ECOT2
The government has recently launched the next phase of its Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, this is an energy efficiency scheme to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. Energy companies over a certain size are obligated to help improve the UK’s domestic energy performance. In this next phase, ECOT2, local authorities are able to set their own eligibility criteria, known as Flexible Eligibility, to better direct energy companies so schemes help more people in fuel poverty and on low incomes.
To enable this new funding stream from central Government to be made available to Nottingham households Nottingham City Council has published its Statement of Intent. This will be made available to all tenures; privately rented, homeowners and social housing, see below for more information.
Sneinton is the focus of an EU funded project four hundred homes in the Windmill Lane area are part of a European project to make them warmer, cheaper to run and fit for the future.
The £5m project, called REMOURBAN, is piloting new technologies to make a step change in the amount of energy older houses use, so they’re ready for low carbon standards in 2050. The project will reduce residents’ bills and make them warmer through innovative insulation techniques, and in some cases energy generation and battery storage. Some measures such as external wall insulation will also transform how homes and neighbourhoods look. Find out more nottingham.remourban.eu
