The care alarm is fitted to your telephone point and mains power supply along
with the sensors you need. The pendant alarm and other sensors are battery operated and linked by the care alarm through radio
waves.
If you press the call button or one of the sensors is triggered,
for example a sensor says you may have had a fall, the care alarm will make a telephone call to the
call monitoring centre.
An operator at the centre will try to speak to
you through the care alarm or pendant alarm, to try and find out the reason for the alert. It may be
a false alarm. Where assistance is needed the call centre will notify your named carer or family member
of the situation. If it is an emergency, or if the operator cannot speak to you, they will respond by sending a mobile
warden round or alerting the emergency services (as appropriate). Where possible, the operator will also try to let you know help is on its way.
