If you are deaf and live in Nottingham City and require sign language or lipspeaking support to communicate with any City Council Department including schools and academies or any primary care service such as GPs, opticians or dentists, this service is provided free of charge.
This service is run by Nottinghamshire Deaf Society.
You can book this service directly by filling in an on-line booking form at www.nottsdeaf.org.uk/
Alternatively, you can book the service by email or over the phone. Or you can ask the department or service that you wish to speak with, to make the booking for you.
Duty Time service
Nottinghamshire Deaf Society also runs a duty time service at its offices:
Monday: 1pm to 3pm
Wednesday: 10am to 12pm and 6pm to 8pm
What is Duty Time?
During Duty Time Nottinghamshire Deaf Society will:
- Make phone calls for you (if you can't use Typetalk or don't have minicom)
- Book interpreter for you
- Help you understand letters
- Help with writing letters
