Agenda published for Board meeting

The Agency has published the agenda and Board papers for its open meeting on Wednesday, 10 December 2008. The agenda includes discussions on 'scores on the doors', BSE testing and the Advisory Committee on Consumer Engagement. The Board will also discuss advice on peanut allergy.
Shaws of Huddersfield withdraws more chutney

Shaws of Huddersfield has withdrawn more chutneys containing apricots because they contain sulphur dioxide, which is not mentioned on the label. The products are therefore, a possible health risk for people who are sensitive to sulphur dioxide. The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert advising anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide not to eat these products.

A Food Standards Agency (FSA) snapshot survey has found that 90% of restaurants, cafes and takeaways describe their fish products correctly.
