Allotments

Having an allotment is a healthy productive hobby that can improve your general health and lower your stress levels. Growing your own fruit and vegetables means you get really fresh, tasty seasonal produce. Growing your own also means you are doing your bit for the environment - helping to reduce food miles and pollution from the transport and packaging of shop-bought food.

Waiting List

We currently have a high demand for allotments in the City and there is a waiting list, which is operated on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in renting an allotment we can put you on the waiting list and we will contact you as soon we have plots available (although this may be at least a year). Due to the high demand, priority is given to Nottingham City residents. If you live outside the City boundary you may wish to contact your local authority who may be able to help you to apply for an allotment in your area.

If you would like to be added to our waiting list please take a look through our Allotment Information Pack (PDF) and complete the Online Allotment Application Form above. Many of the sites are run by voluntary associations, based at the site itself; these hold their own waiting lists. If you are interested in renting a plot at one of these sites, please fill in the appropriate part of the application form and we will pass your contact details to the relevant association.

Cost

From January 2015, the cost of the plot will vary depending on its size. the cost of a plot will be 13pence per square metre, per year. If the site has access to water then this will be charged per usage. For example a 250 sq metre plot will cost £32.50 per year (plus any relevant water charges).

Giving up Your Allotment

If you want to give up your allotment, contact the Allotment Team who, after receipt of your written application to terminate your tenancy, will inspect your plot to indicate if anything needs doing. If you become ill and cannot look after your allotment, contact the Allotment Officer to discuss ways of managing your allotment until you can garden again.
