ESSENTIAL training for recruiting managers
Course length: Half day
Course Leaders: Karen Shead
Audience: Practitioners involved in the recruitment of staff or volunteers
Course Overview: As set out in the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS, childcare providers have a duty of care to ensure any adults caring for the children are suitable to do so, and that staffing arrangements ensure the children are well supervised, kept safe and have their needs met.
Using feedback from Ofsted inspections and in line with the DfE’s ‘Working Together’ this essential course has been specifically designed for Early Years practitioners involved in the recruitment of staff or volunteers. Covering key principles of recruitment it will support practitioners to actively try to protect children’s welfare when selecting new people for the workforce.
By the end of the course participants will be able to :
- Identify key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
- Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting
- Review their own organisation's policies and practices with a view to making them safe
Pre-course information: Delegates are required to have knowledge of their setting’s Recruitment and Safeguarding Policy.
