Magical Outdoor Play  Using the Outdoor Environment in the EYFS

Length: Half day

Audience: All Practitioners under 5s 

Course Requirements: Access to outdoor space is required and practitioners should wear clothing suitable for outdoor play 

Course Overview: This course gives learners the inspiration and ideas they need to make outdoor play at their setting truly magical. EYFS recommendations are for 50% of play at a setting to be outdoors. This course helps settings achieve this through a series of imaginative activities and techniques to maximise the outdoor environment. It is also a fun and inspiring way to give learners the confidence to deliver outdoor play, whatever the weather and give a whole host of new ideas to take back to their settings. It also demonstrates clear links to how Outdoor Play supports neurological development, resilience, mental health and every aspect of the EYFS and can be implemented in even the most limited outdoor environments.  

Aims: This course will support you to:

  • Illustrate the need for outdoor play and the benefits to young children
  • Highlight the detrimental effects of lack of outdoor play
  • Inspire practitioners to increase levels of outdoor play in their settings
  • Showcase practical and fun outdoor activities for all under 5’s
  • Provide support and information based on a wealth of practical experience
