Derby-Nottingham Metro Strategy – Consultation Findings

The Derby-Nottingham Metro Strategy sets out a bold joint vision that by ‘2030 Derby & Nottingham will have a global reputation as an exciting place to live, work and play.’ The consultation on the strategy was launched in July 2016 and closed in September. The consultation questionnaire asked a combination of closed and open questions to establish the level of support for the principles and purpose of the strategy; and gather comments on its substance, as well as suggestions and ideas about how the two cities could work better together. The two City Councils have since been working to further develop and strengthen the strategy in response to feedback from the consultation.

School Funding Consultation

The Government is proposing to create a national funding formula for the way every school receives money.

This will change the amount of funding many schools get towards their running costs. Some schools will get more money, others will get less. School budgets are already under pressure due to rising pupil numbers and inflation.

We have calculated that under the proposed new funding formula, 98% of schools in Nottingham would lose out.

Have your say on Nottingham’s Green Future

Nottingham Green Partnership is developing an action plan to promote the opportunities that Nottingham has to remain at the forefront of sustainable development.  Sustainable development is about improving quality of life through environmental protection, well-being and economic growth. The Sustainable Development Action Plan will cover five themes – water, biodiversity, energy, transport and waste and will set out a range of ideas to encourage and inspire sustainable practices for citizens, businesses and non-profit sector.

The partnership is asking for city residents to contribute towards the development of the action plan by taking part in an online survey.  The feedback will be used to ensure that the plan supports the actions people are already taking and prioritises what is important to the people who live in the city.
