Meet the Holme Pit Action Group

The Holme Pit Action Group is a group of local anglers with an interest in nature conservation who help maintain the LNR and raise its profile in the community.

They have managed the site under a lease agreement since 2000. The fishery resource had become degraded due to lack of funding but it provided a focus for a group of local people in partnership with Nottingham City Council. Their efforts were rewarded by an SSSI award from English Nature in 2003. The Holme Pit Action Group manage a pond for fishing and nature conservation and have done a fantastic job at involving the local community building new paths, putting up signs and building viewing platforms.
