Oi Students!
This is your site and it's backed by the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Nottinghamshire Police and the Nottingham Crime & Drugs Partnership.
Let's talk crime; we're proud that Nottingham is seeing year on year reductions in crime, particularly crimes which tend to affect students, like burglary. We work hard to give you the latest on crime prevention however; be vigilant, protect yourself and your valuables!
This site will help you, it's logical and it ain't rocket science; students who follow this advice are Safer Students!
One of the best ways to deter burglars is by using SmartWater, a property marking liquid which has been used in Nottingham since 2001. You can learn more by clicking on the SmartWater page, and whilst you're there, don't forget to check out the quick way to make your valuables less appealing to burglars by registering them on www.immobilise.com.
The Easily Done campaign is backed by Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham Crime & Drugs Partnership as part of their efforts to reduce crime against students in Nottingham. There were 17,000 fewer victims of crime compared to the previous 12 months.
Smartwater is available FREE to residents in Nottingham City, or residents who pay their Council Tax to Nottingham City Council.
To check whether you are eligible or to book an appointment, call the Burglary Reduction team on 0115 915 3701 or email us at smartwater@nottinghamcity.gov.uk. You can also contact your local Police station or if you live in halls of residence your hall manager.
Over the next few months, this website will be undergoing some really exciting changes so don't forget to keep coming back regularly to stay updated on crime trends in the City.
Have fun and be safe!
